The City of Medicine Hat has entered into an agreement with Canada's largest generator of wind energy - Vision Quest - to annually produce and deliver 13,050 megawatt hours of EcoLogo Certified wind power to Alberta's energy grid. Like other consumers of electricity, Medicine Hat has access to this environmentally friendly energy source through its electric energy imports from the grid.

In 2001, more than 4,100 Electric Utility customers participated in a City survey about wind power : 90 per cent of respondents said they support the City's involvement with a wind power program.
Wind is a clean, renewable energy source. Going Green's support of wind energy production by Vision Quest will reduce 13,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions each year or the equivalent annual emissions of 2,725 cars. The City of Medicine Hat Electric Utility launched the Going Green program in April 2004.
Why Going Green?
- It fits with the City's Natures Best Program, which encourages:
- The production of renewable energy sources.
- The wise use of natural resources.
- Safeguarding the environment.
- The City of Medicine Hat Electric Utility receives " Green EnergyTM certificates " towards realizing the City's environmental sustainability objectives.
