The Gas Utility Department includes “Natural Gas & Petroleum Resources”, “Gas Distribution” and “Gas Marketing” functions:

Natural Gas & Petroleum Resources manages the City’s natural gas and petroleum producing properties to maximize their future value to the citizens of Medicine Hat.

Gas Distribution distributes natural gas to customers within its franchise boundary, obtaining a return on total equity that is warranted according to the Alberta Utility Commission for a regulated Gas Distribution Company.  We utilize competent/trained personnel to provide customer service, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of distribution facilities in order to ensure a safe and reliable system.

Gas Marketing manages the natural gas sales, purchases, transport, storage, cost of service, regulation and customer care for all customers the City of Medicine Hat serves.
