Medicine Hat – At Monday night’s meeting Medicine Hat City Council approved the release of the City’s 2011 Annual Report.
The Annual Report covers the City of Medicine Hat’s Municipal and Energy activities from January 1 to December 31, 2011 in regard to Strategic Planning Goals, Council’s Priorities, services provided and objectives achieved.
“We can look back on 2011 as a year of significant challenges but also a year of positive change and growth,” Mayor Norm Boucher stated in his Mayor’s Report.
Chief Administrative Officer Ray Barnard’s report states “City Administration worked conscientiously throughout the year to complete many of City Council’s strategic priorities as well as to meet several operational strategies and goals”.
"While electric, natural gas and oil commodity prices were very volatile during 2011, the Division posted net earnings of $56.6 million resulting a return on equity of 8.5 per cent with a dividend of $38.4 million paid to support municipal services in Medicine Hat," says Gerry Labas, Chief Operating Officer, Energy Services.
The Annual Report includes updates on Services Provided from various departments in 2011 and measures of services around Policy Objectives; adherence and challenges around Fiscal Responsibility, Sustainable Utilities, Sound Infrastructure, Communications and Community Relations, Environmental Stewardship, Community Development and Organizational Strength. These measures focus primarily on service quality, benefits to residents and the impacts on the quality of life in Medicine Hat.
