Second Street SE Water and Sewer Upgrade
Construction Commencement
Medicine Hat – The entire project involves the replacement of water, sanitary sewer, and surface (i.e. roads and sidewalks) infrastructure on Second Street SE between Birch Avenue SE and Woodman Avenue SE. The contractor working on behalf of the Environmental Utilities Department is proceeding with the full closure of construction Work Zone One (see attached map) on Saturday, June 9, 2012 for approximately four weeks.
Once construction commences, there will be no through traffic on Second Street SE at the Woodman Avenue SE intersection. Accessing Lions Park will be available through the south entrance at Fifth Street SE and Minto Avenue SE. Motorists are reminded to adhere to all construction detours and speed zones in the construction area.
Full water and sewer services will be operational throughout the duration of construction with the exception of emergency activities and scheduled, short duration interruptions. The first scheduled water shutoff is on Monday, June 11, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 7p.m. All affected residences and/or businesses will be advised by hand delivered written notification.
Please note that the washroom facilities in Lions Parks will be unavailable during this water shutoff.
