Spencer Street Utility Upgrades – Pathway Closure

Post Date:08/18/2020 8:30 AM

Medicine Hat – A portion of the Saratoga Park Trail will be temporarily closed as construction continues on the remaining phases of a multi-year rehabilitation project to upgrade water and sewer mains in the Spencer Street SE area.

The Spencer/Kipling project includes upgrades to the storm sewer in the area. Work is set to begin in the storm outfall on Aug. 24 and requires the trail through the area (along Seven Persons Creek, to the south of Kipling Street) to be closed until approximately Sept. 5, subject to weather and unforeseen delays.

Spencer Street Trail Closure Map

The pathway closure allows crews to access underground infrastructure. Open excavations are present and surrounded by security fencing to restrict access near construction areas.

Pathway closure signs will be placed accordingly along the pathway. Pedestrians are asked to respect and stay clear of all construction areas clearly marked with signs, fencing and barricades and to avoid pathway use beyond the pathway closure signs.

The City of Medicine Hat is committed to an infrastructure renewal program focused on replacing aging assets to ensure quality services to its customers. Please drive safely around work crews. The City thanks residents for their continued patience and understanding during this important local project.
