Transit Updating Single Ride Fare, September Passes Now Available
Medicine Hat – Beginning Tuesday, September 1, Medicine Hat Transit (MHT) will be increasing single ride fare to $2.00 per passenger following a successful return to non-essential travel.
Transfers will continue to be unavailable until further notice, as well as the sale and use of MHT tickets.
“Passengers who may require transfers are encouraged to purchase and use monthly bus passes,” said Mike Spicer, Manager of Transit Services. “We must continue to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. A monthly pass allows passengers unlimited rides per month while decreasing contact with cash, tickets and transfers.”
Monthly passes for September are now available for purchase.
Adult (18-64) - $70.50
Senior (65+) - 43.75
Post-Secondary Student - $61.00
Youth (6-17) - $38.75
College Semester Pass - $232.00
A list of retailers is available on the City website.
Masks are still available for all passengers boarding the bus. Packages of two disposable masks are available to riders from the dispensers located on every bus.
“Safety remains our top priority,” said Spicer. “Physical distancing while on board our buses is still in effect and anyone wishing to wear a mask while on board is encouraged to do so.”
Regular Transit will continue to operate on an adjusted schedule. Regular Monday to Friday Transit service will operate on a Saturday schedule. On Saturday and Sunday, the regular Sunday schedule will be in effect.
“We continue conversations with our drivers and passengers to best understand what’s working and what we can be doing differently as we continue to operate in pandemic conditions.”
