Project Description

Aging irrigation lines in Hillside Cemetery will be replaced as crews work to expand the Columbarium area. The work will impact the northeast section of the cemetery and the columbarium garden area.
The entire irrigation system will be rehabilitated in phases over the next couple years while the majority of the work occurs between 2020-2022.

Timing & Traffic Accommodations

Work in the area is scheduled to begin early August and will last until November.
Visitation hours will be modified for anyone wishing to visit this area of the grounds. A detour for vehicles through the grounds will also be in place. Information will be provided at the gate or office.

A new irrigation system will maintain the Hillside urban forest, as well as the green and healthy vegetation throughout.
By expanding the Columbarium area, the City will be able to offer new options for interment. A new courtyard appearance will provide privacy and seclusion during visits.

Signs will be placed at the gate and further information will be available at the office.

The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding as the necessary upgrades are completed, helping to ensure safe and reliable infrastructure for years to come.
