Getting There

  • Address:  this 160 acre park is located East of Holsom Road on highway 523
  • Google Maps:  click the "-" button to scroll out and get a better sense of where the park is located
  • Trails:   Open Year Round.  There are 7 km of trails throughout the park as well as a trail to Medicine Hat. 
    • Accessible Trails
      • Around the lakes -the asphalt trails around the lakes are near level with short stretches of incline or decline.  The 
      • Swim Lake to Farm - the asphalt trail between the swim lake and the farm is near level
    • Partially Accessible Trails
      •  Fishing Lake to Group Site - the red shale trail along the river has two short incline/declines.  The trail is well maintained and passable in dry conditions.
      • Trail to Medicine Hat's Gas City Campground - the asphalt trail is 6.5 km long with several steep sections.
  • Bicycle Rack:  is provided at the Swim lake for your convenience and to support your active lifestyle.  
  • Transit:  Free Transit service is available from the Medicine Hat Transit Terminal to Echo Dale on Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays throughout the summer between 10 am and 6 pm.
  • Accessible Parking:  There are designated accessible parking spaces at both the Swim Lake and the Fishing Lake.  There are lots of parking spaces in all areas of the park and lots of curb ramps connecting the parking areas to the the trails.  


  • Swim Lake 
    • Lifeguards - on duty from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm June to August.
    • Beach Wheelchair - enjoy the beach and shoreline with friends and family.  This beach wheelchair is available for public use.   
    • Beech Volleyball Courts - are located on the South side of the swim lake.
  • Fishing Lake:  
    • Accessible Picnic Area and Firepit  *NEW* - 3 accessible picnic tables and an accessible height fire pit are set on a solid surface for easy rolling
    • Accessible Outhouses - are available on the East side of the fishing lake.   
    • Accessible Fishing Docks - two accessible fishing docks on the east side of the boating lake
  • Historic Farm:  tour the old farm house and barnyard or head up the hill to learn about the old businesses and tour the Ajax mine.
    • Trails - asphalt trails connect all the sites.  The asphalt trails from the farm to the mine entrance are very steep and caution is suggested.  It is maneuverable in a power wheelchair. 
    • Barnyard - has a variety of barnyard animals in small pens surrounding the barn.
    • Farm House - is accessible with a ramp that can be accessed from the back of the farm house.
    • Blacksmith Shop - is part way up the hill
    • Ajax Mine - is at the top of the hill.
